The highest elite premium of the 2013 Baileys Horse Feeds/British Equestrian Federation/British Breeding (BEF) Futurity so far was awarded to a dressage foal yesterday. This was one of four elite premiums allocated during the second day of the evaluation at Hartpury College.
Alison Walton’s colt foal, Simbambili (by Supertramp, out of a Florencio mare, Cayenne D) topped the entries with an elite premium of 9.43. The evaluators commented on the correctness of his trot for dressage saying: “[he has] very good suspension and balance with good natural carriage and a big stride. He creates a harmonious picture.”
Yearling Limited Edition XV took an elite score of 9.14 in the eventing section for owner/breeders Mr and Mrs S Talbot from Gloucester. Limited Edition XV is by advanced eventer, Take It 2 The Limit, out of a Seattle Dancer mare, Star Lady. The evaluators were impressed by his straight movement and lightness on his feet.
Woodlander Sharona returned home with the second elite premium of 2013 (9.08) for the Woodlander Stud. This filly foal (also by Supertramp, out of a Weltegrent mare) is owned and bred by Lynne Crowden.
Sam Smith and Juliet Whatley’s colt foal, Grafenstar took the final elite of the day (9.00) in the eventing section. He is by Grafenstolz, out of a thoroughbred mare by High Roller.
A spokesman for the evaluators said: “The standard and presentation of horses today was very good, especially the foals. It is encouraging to see and we look forward to seeing these youngsters at the Futurity equine bridge selection days in the future.”
The Futurity now moves on to Southview EC in Cheshire on Thursday.
