Equestrians bid for 2012 Olympics

  • The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) have been in discussion regarding the launch of a potential British bid for the 2012 Olympic games.

The BEF met recently with representatives of the British Olympic Association and London International Sport at the Royal Veterinary College to discuss the possibility of using the site – in Potter’s Bar, just off the M25 and close to Stansted Airport – to host the equestrian element of an Olympic Games.

Andrew Finding, chief executive of the BEF, said: “We must be cautious. The college will need to consult the local community and secure their support for such a venture, the BOA and the government must decide that a bid is appropriate – and then Britain has to win the bid.”
