Showing star Comberton Clancy has been put down aged 10.
The prolific riding horse was the only horse to stand Royal International and Horse of the Year Show supreme in the same year (2011).
The gelding, by Blaircourt Franko, was put down on Friday (12 July) due to recurring lameness problems.
“We are devastated,” said Carol Bardo, who owned him jointly with Jackie Beatham.
Comberton Clancy had been out three times out this season — and won on all three occasions under Jayne Ross. The most recent was just last month (29 June) when he was champion at the North of England Summer Horse Show.
In 2011, as well as his RIHS/HOYS double, he stood first day supreme at the British Show Horse Association National Championships.
In 2012 he was champion at Royal Windsor and £1,000 supreme victor at North of England.
