Hilton Herb endurance team members have been selected for the European Championships in Italy later this month
Liz Platts and Jane James, both members of the Hilton Herbs endurance team have been selected to represent Great Britain at the forthcoming European Endurance Championships in Castiglione Del Lago, Italy on the 29 September.
The outbreak of FMD has made it difficult to get endurance horses fit this year. Most competitions have been cancelled and bridleways shut. However, despite these difficulties both horses are fit and have passed the selection programme with flying colours.
Liz and her horse Zilzal, managed to compete in an international competition at the beginning of the year when they were invited to take part in the Dubai World Cup endurance race.
Jane, who was part of the UK’s silver-medal winning team at the World Endurance Championships in France last year, lives on a beef farm in Cornwall. Restrictions in her area have made it difficult to keep her horse Rowengay Garnet competition fit.
Tony and Hilary Self, directors of Hilton Herbs, are both keen endurance riders themselves and are thrilled to have had some of their team members chosen to represent the UK at the championships.
“Unfortunately we can’t support them in person, as we are sponsoring the British Heavy Horse team competing in France at the same time. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for all the team,” said Tony.
