Chance conversation at FEI ride in France leads to new ride for British endurance rider
Former junior international endurance rider, 22-year-old Nicky Renny, has formed a new partnership with Spanish Scensation, a nine-year-old 16hh Anglo Arab gelding.
Nicky retired her own horse Soneri last year. She competed the Passant’s Quorum Victory for the 2000 season, but has been looking for a new horse since moving to the Midlands to study Management Accountancy.
A chance conversation at the FEI Moulins Engilbert ride in France in July with Cheryl Logan of Alem Hamza Team Endurance turned out to be mutually beneficial.
The team have six horses in training, with their pure-bred stallion Khairho already competing at international level with Anna Williams.
Spanish Scensation (stable name Murphy) has now moved to Sue Oakes’s yard in the Midlands, just five minutes from Nicky’s home.
Their first competition will be at the Bibury Ride at Salisbury Racecourse on 2 December, and Nicky will be aiming to travel abroad next year to compete with Alem Hamza Team Endurance.
