More than 1,000 registered ponies will go under the hammer during Brightwell’s four-day “Festival of the Pony” event
Pony enthusiasts can choose from more than 1,000 registered ponies during Brightwells auctioneers Festival of the Pony, (Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 October).
The four-day event opens with Brightwell’s third annual sale of registered Shetland ponies at Hereford. More than 100 registered ponies are expected to be available at the one-day sale.
The 48th annual Fayre Oaks Sale of Welsh ponies, also at Hereford, will take place on 5-6 October. This official Welsh Pony and Cob Society sale will offer clients more than 530 registered Welsh Mountain ponies (section A) and Welsh ponies (section B), plus part-breds.
An anticipated 400 riding ponies and cobs will be offered at the final sale at Hay-on-Wye on Sunday, which will include a Welsh pony foal show.
Although the event clashes with the Horse of the Year show, Angela Jones, manager of Brightwells’ pony sales, believes sales won’t be affected.
“I think the ongoing effects of FMD are likely to have more of an effect on trade than the clash with HOYS,” she explained. “The event is a fantastic opportunity for buyers to purchase top quality ponies, with something for everyone available during the four days.”
