Endurance team officials announced

  • Chef d’equipes for the senior, intermediate, young rider teams have been announced

Brenda Campbell, from Warwickshire, has been appointed senior team chef d’equipe and will have her sights set on the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, which take place in September next year.

This is the second time Brenda has held this position – in 1999, she led the team to a silver medal at the World Championships in Portugal.

Chef to the intermediate team is well-known endurance rider Pat Fowler. Pat has competed for many years and, together with her mare Sheraton, was instrumental in helping the British team win the gold medal at the European Championships in 1995, while also securing individual silver.

Birmingham-based Sue Oakes has claimed the position of chef to the young riders’ team. Sue has always been dedicated to helping young riders on to the international scene, and was the chef d’equipe from 1994-1999.

This time, she will be aiming to take a squad overseas to broaden experience in preparation for the Young Riders European Championships in 2003.

Assisting Sue will be Cathy Drummond, with the under-21 squad team vet is Derek Grantham from Market Rasen, Lincs.

  • Endurance GB is offering life membership to the first 100 members joining before 31 December at just £300, rising to £350 after 1 January 2002.

Annual membership will be: full riding £22.50, junior £15, and non-riding £17.50. A 10% discount will apply to families of three or more members. Existing EHPS and BERA members in 2001 will not pay the initial joining fee of £15.
