The first official reining World Championship will be held at next year’s World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
The announcement follows a formal agreement between the WEG organising committee, national federations and the FEI.
The reining competitions will take place during the second week of WEG and will be held in the brand new Sports Palace, also the venue for the vaulting event.
Team and individual medals will be awarded and the organisers are expecting around 10 nations to take part.
Selection trials for the British team for FEI reining competitions in 2002 will take place at the QH2000 show at Arena UK on 22-23 September. For details contact Bill Archer (tel: 01342 892203).
