Richard Davison’s grand prix partner Hiscox Askari has been retired from international competition
Richard Davison has announced the retirement of his double Olympic partner Hiscox Askari from international competition today at Hickstead’s international dressage competition.
Hiscox Askari has been the backbone of Britain’s dressage team for the past five years and has represented Britain the two Olympic Games – Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000, where he was ranked team eighth.
Richard bought Askari as a four-year-old and made their international debut at Hickstead as an eight-year-old.
Richard said he had taken the decision to retire his long-time partner from the demands of international competition while he was still 100% fit.
“Hiscox Askari and I have competed together in 45 top international in the past five years and he has consistently given 100%. I think it is only fair to repay that commitment by retiring him from these high level demands while he is still at the peak of his performance.”
