Top British show jumper rushed to hospital following fall in Nations Cup competition in the Netherlands
Britain’s number one show jumper Michael Whitaker was rushed to hospital after a fall in the Nations Cup competition at Rotterdam last weekend.
Michael, who was riding Give Me Remus, the horse on which Billy Twomey finished joint runner-up in the Peugeot Derby at Hickstead, had the fall when the horse stopped at the first part of the combination in the first round.
He was discharged with bruising to his head and was later well enough to leave as scheduled for the Spruce Meadows show in Calgary, Canada.
“I can’t remember a thing about the fall, but I think I was hit by a pole. I was concussed and taken to hospital for X-rays as a precaution,” said Michael.
