Schools head for Hickstead


  • Young show jumpers head for Hickstead this weekend to represent their schools and Pony Clubs

    Schools from all over the country, together with regional Pony Clubs, will be heading for Hickstead this weekend. Their representatives will be competing in the prestigious National Schools Junior and Senior Show Jumping Championships and the National Pony Clubs Show Jumping Championships.

    Schools and Pony Clubs enter on a direct entry basis and the aim of the day is to qualify for the final in the outside rings. Eight finalists from the Pony Club section and 10 finalists from the junior and senior section of the schools, come to the International Arena from 12.30pm onwards to jump for national titles.

    All those who take part will receive a commemorative rosette, while the winning teams receive the coveted schools trophy and sash.

    The annual event is always popular with over 400 children taking part from all over the country.Entry for spectators is free. Strict FMD disinfection procedures will apply and spectators and competitiors are discouraged from bringing dogs.
