As foot-and-mouth cases soar to 500, Horse and Hound Online and Country Life Online, in association with Farmers Weekly, have joined forces to launch a new website where visitors can voice their concerns and find comprehensive information on how to cope with the disease.
The new site, which can be found at www.foot-and-mouth-disease.co.uk, also provides the latest news on the epidemic and offers free advertising space to beleaguered ruralbusinesses as well as advice and information for horse owners.
The initiative intends to break the feeling of isolation that is being experienced in rural areas because of foot-and-mouth. Publishing Director Evelyn Webster said: “The new website enables country people, who may otherwise feel isolated, to keep up to date with the latest news and talk to others who are experiencing the same worries.
“The site is intended as a service to the rural community and we would welcome any suggestionswhich will help us make it ever more useful.”
Foot-and-mouth-disease.co.uk will soon be offering consumers an opportunity to buy country products and services online and donate money to selected charities.
