Internet poll reveals support for hunting

  • An internet poll conducted by Sky TV has revealed that over half the public are against a ban on hunting.

Asked whether hunting ought to be made illegal, 52% of respondents voted against a ban on hunting.

The results of Sky TV’s ballot bear resemblance to the outcome of April’s National Opinion Poll survey, where 1,000 adults were asked to choose between an outright ban, the Middle Way or self-regulation, only 37% voted for a ban, whereas the majority preferred some system of supervision or regulation.

Director of the Countryside Alliance’s Campaign for Hunting Simon Hart said: “Although polls of this nature cannot be described as a scientific survey, they do give an indication of public feeling and illustrate that despite claims by the opposition of overwhelming public support for a ban, in fact the truth is very much different.’
