BSJA to launch in-house database for show jumping performance horses
Supporters of the British Horse Database (BHD) are reeling with the news that its single biggest participant organisation, the British Show Jumping Association, has decided to withdraw.
The BSJA’s executive board decided on Monday, after a lengthy extraordinary meeting, that it could supply in-house, and publish annually, a more informative database specially tailored for its own sport than that processed by the Wellingborough-based BHD.
A statement added: “With the advent of BSJA stallions being graded fast approaching, it is appropriate that the association holds all the performance and breeding data on its own systems.
“Therefore, with immediate effect it is no longer a requirement of BSJA registration that the horse/pony is registered with the BHD.”
The BSJA annually spends a substantial five-figure sum with the BHD and will reinvest this in rewriting its own software to obtain the comprehensive information it feels is needed.
