Badminton sculptor gains public commissions

  • Sculptor Judy Boyt, the creator of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Trophy, has recently gained commissions for two public life-sized equine sculptures.

The Liverpool Architecture and Development Trust (LADT) selected Judy from 50 candidates to create a monument to the working horses of Liverpool to be sited near the new Tate Gallery, in the Liverpool dockside development.

Judy, who is based near Devizes, Wilts, has also secured the commission to provide a sculpture for Epsom town to commemorate the Derby.

The Millennium Bronze, to be placed in the new Lifestyle Centre in the town, will based on inaugural Derby winner Diomed and Sinndar, who won this year’s race.
