Stolen Irish show ponies may be in UK

  • Two ponies stolen over the weekend last month in Co Meath, Republic of Ireland are still missing

Two registered Welsh part-bred ponies stolen over the weekend of 21 -23 Septemberfrom their field in Rathmaiden Lane, Co Meath, Republic of Ireland are still missing. The ponies were among eight others kept in the field.

Owner, Grainne Ward said: “These ponies were the two biggest and obviously the most valuable. The gate wasn’t padlocked and whoever took them loaded them up and drove away.”

It is believed that the ponies are almost certainly destined for the UK mainland and the ports have been alerted.

    The two ponies are:

  • Trellech Mastermind, a five-year-old 148cm black gelding. He has a white coronary band on his left hind and a few white hairs down over his nostril.

  • Glenhuntly Festival Time, a five-year-old 153cm chestnut gelding. He has a small scar under his saddle area, a white star and snip.

Neither pony is freeze-marked, but both have been identichipped.

Both ponies have been broken and are described as quiet and easy to handle. They were being produced ready for show hunter pony classes next year.

Grainne Ward has also informed the Welsh Part-Bred Society, Irish Pony Society and the Navan Gardai.

Anyone with any information should contact Ms Ward on (tel: 00353 67 21322) or the Navan Gardai (tel: 00353 46 21445).
