Countryside team to run for farmers


  • A team representing countryside supporters will be among celebrities, club and elite athletes taking part in a 10K charity run on 22 July in London.

    The Countryside Team will be led by ex-Olympic athlete, Zola Budd ,who is making a special trip back to London.

    Other members in the team will be TV personalities, Sir John Scott, Robin Page and Clarissa Dickson-Wright will be at the start of the race and the finish.

    They are supporting the National Farmers’ Union efforts to raise money for the Farmers in Crisis Fund.

    The run will start at Piccadilly, go past Westminster Abbey and Big Ben then along the Victoria Embankment past St Paul’s Cathedral before finishing opposite the London Eye.

    More than 6,500 runners and 180 charities have already registered and the organisers are expecting a minimum of 10,000 runners on the day.

    Many of the celebrities have agreed to do the Look Great in Six Weeks programme in preparation for the run.
