Scurry driving is to set up on its own next season after separating from its present governing body, the British Horse Driving Trials Association
Scurry driving is to launch its own governing body, the Scurry Driving Association, which will be responsible for all scurry driving competitions from 1 January 2002.
The decision to split from its present governing body, the British Horse Driving Trials Association (BHDTA), has been taken due to the association needing to move offices and reducing its staff to two, according to BHDTA chairman, Jim French.
The new Scurry Driving Association plans to run two championship series in 2002. The Horse Show Championship will be sponsored by John Holmes together with Peter Walker of NSR, while the Horse of the Year Show Championship, will continue to be sponsored by Osborne Refrigerators.
David Matthews, chairman of the new association, said the new committee would be looking to encourage more people to take up the high-speed sport.
