Riders warned over helicopter patrols

  • Electricity network operator, 24seven, warns livestock holders of helicopter patrols in the east of England

Helicopter patrols to check overhead power lines are operating in the east of England for the next six months.

The network operator, 24seven, is providing a hotline telephone number so that horse and other livestock owners can find out dates and times when the checks are being made in their area.

The patrols will cover areas across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, parts of north London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and part of Buckinghamshire.

The company warns that its heli-patrols will be flying low along each of 35,000km network to find hot-spots and potential problem areas.

The patrols, which began this month, will also pinpoint large or overgrown tress that could damage lines in high winds.
