A successful final year for BERA, despite the effects of FMD, results in a financial boost for the UK’s new endurance body
Endurance GB will receive a lump sum of between £10,000-15,000 from the British Endurance Riding Association (BERA) when it opens for business in January.
Despite a season decimated by FMD and concerns over the society’s financial position, BERA chairman John Hudson was able to relay the good news to delegates at the final BERA annual meeting last weekend.
“The fact that we have a surplus is down to the good management of our treasurer Mike Dando, together with the 500 Club, fund-raising by the regions and being able to run rides later in the season,” said John.
Around 100 members attended the conference in Portsmouth to bid farewell to the organisation that ran under the auspices of the British Horse Society as the Endurance Riding Group until 1998.
