Dan Sherriff won both the grand prix and grand prix special on Bayford Hall Borris and stood runner-up to Isobel Wessels and Leopardo in the intermediaire II with Bayford Hall Cossack at The College Equestrian Centre Premier League show.
“This winter, I spent several weeks with my trainer David Hunt to really concentrate on developing the enormous amount of contained energy the horses need to work at this level,” said Dan. “Borris’s piaffe and passage are now confirmed, but I felt they were only on half-power today – there is still more to come.”
Runner-up in the competitive grand prix was the new combination of Kyra Kyrklund and Lady Bamford¨s nine-year-old Russian Trakehner stallion, Ping Vin, at his first attempt at the level.
Jill Day and Nominee Redwood, strongly supported on home ground, won a closely-contested grand prix freestyle to music ahead of Kyra Kyrklund on Asterix and Isobel Wessels, who took third place with Leopardo.
Peter Storr and the eye-catching grey gelding Jamiro swept the board at small tour level, winning all three classes they contested, intermediaire I, prix st georges and prix st georges freestyle to music.
Nominee Assurance set a grand prix and small tour challenge, with total prize-money of £1,000 being shared between the top three combinations who earned the highest cumulative score at each level.
Jill Day and Sarah Dwyer-Coles were joint grand prix winners and Peter Storr had a convincing victory at small tour.
