Boost for British breeding

  • Blenheim winner Winsome Adante is awarded prestigious eventers’ breeding prize

A British-bred horse has won the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) award for the leading international event horse of the season for the second year running.

Blenheim Horse Trials winner Winsome Adante, by Saunter, out of a mare by Bohemond, heads this year’s listings. Ridden by American rider Kimberley Vinoski, Winsome Adante was bred in Staffordshire by Mrs Gooch.

Last year’s winner was the British-bred Sleep Late.

SHB (GB) general secretary Kim Hall said: “Britain has long been renowned for breeding some of the best event horses in the world and the society is delighted that one of its horses has brought official recognition to the country again this year.”
