A 32-year-old Pony Club pony wins the 2001 Super Solvitax Supreme Veteran of the Year award
A 32-year-old 12.2hh part-bred Dartmoor pony beat off strong competition to claim the 2001 Super Solvitax Supreme Veteran of the Year award.
Winner of the 31 – 35 category, Tara, who comes from Staplehurst, Kent, went one better than last year, when she won her age category, to claim the overall title.
Tara, a veteran schoolmistress who enjoys all pony club activities, is owned by Lynda Tunnicliff and ridden by her seven-year-old daughter Esmeralda.
“We have owned Tara for five years and she has been fantastic throughout,” said Lynda. “She is a really sensible pony who adapts to the type of rider she is carrying. When we first got her Esmeralda was tiny and she was really quiet, but now she is more capable and Tara is really fun.
“They went to Pony Club camp for the first time this year and Esmeralda was third in the mini ODE competition on the final day.
“Hopefully, Esmeralda will have another couple of season’s before she outgrows Tara, and the pony isn’t showing any signs of wanting to slow down despite her age.”
As SupremeVeteran of the Year, Tara won a year’s supply of Super Solvitax R-A formula, plus a show rug.
“We have really enjoyed competing in veteran classes and Esmeralda was thrilled to win the supreme title,” said Lynda.
