Saffron Walden and District Riding Club won the SEIB Quadrille of the Year for the third time in four years at Olympia
It was Saffron Walden and District RC’s second consecutive win in the competition, run by the British Riding Clubs. Judged on a team’s interpretation of a story to music, Saffron Walden’s theme was the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The team, one of four to qualify for Olympia from an initial entry of 10, was Jane Hood, riding Rossway Masasa, Vicky Rutherford with Georgio, Claire Engelmann on Wesley and sister Suzannah Engelmann riding Lynwood.
Nicolina MacKenzie, sales and marketing manager for sponsor South Essex Insurance Brokers, said: “It is a privilege to be involved with this very special competition, and Saffron Walden were worthy winners.”
Second was West End Riding Club, who last won in 1997, with Ardingly Riding Club third.
