New coach for US show jumpers

  • The US show jumping team has appointed former Olympic medallist Frank Chapot as coach in an effort to boost fortunes at WEG

For the first time in more than 20 years, the USEquestrian Team will have a show jumping coach, whose goal is to boost the fortunes of the squad that will be competing in the forthcoming World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Jerez, Spain.

Six-times Olympian Frank Chapot, who has served as chef d’equipe for American squads since the 1984 Olympics, will now have a freer hand to direct aspiring team members than he has in the past.

“This is something that gives me authority to guide and help all the riders’ day-to-day performances and, hopefully, help us get back on top,” said Chapot, who was recently honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
