Natural Animal Feeds is to sponsor three major British Riding Club competitions this year
Grass roots competitors have received a boost from complementary feeds manufacturer Natural Animal Feeds, via the British Riding Clubs network.
NAF will be sponsoring three major BRC competitions including the Novice Indoor Show Jumping Championship, the inaugural Novice Dressage Championship and the Evergreen Horse & Pony Championship during 2002.
“We believe British Riding Club members are representative of the ‘typical NAF user’,” explains Richard Cleeve, NAF’s managing director. “This is our opportunity to give something back to the people who use our products to help keep their horses fit and well.”
The winter novice show jumping championships are open to teams of BRC members riding horses with no BSJA winnings. Fences in the qualifying rounds will not exceed 2’6″ in the first round and 2’9″ in the jump off, with an increase of 3ins at the final.
Introduced last year, but cancelled due to FMD, the novice dressage championships are expected to become a popular addition to the BRC competition calendar. Open to horses without BD points and riders who have not gained BHSAI, PC A test or BRC equitation level 4, three riders in each team compete at preliminary level with the final member riding a novice test.
The Evergreen Horse & Pony Championship, which take place at the BRC National Championships, sees horses and ponies, aged 15 years and over, jump a course of fences (maximum height 2’6″ for ponies, 2’9″ for horses) before giving an individual show. The horses’ conformation is also taken into account in the final judging.
Winning riders in the finals of all three competitions will receive a range of NAF goodies.
