The RSPCA is on the look out for a “spacious home” for a massive dog that is said to be “more like a pony than a dog”
He may only be 16 months old but already he weighs 60kg, eats four large tins of food a day and stands waist high to most of the staff at the RSPCA animal shelter in Exeter.
Although still not fully grown, Marshall, a grey Neopolitan Mastiff, already needs two staff members to take him out.
The dog was handed over to the RSPCA after his owner became pregnant and could no longer cope with such a huge boisterous hound.
Neil Edwards, manager of the RSPCA Little Valley animal shelter, said: “Marshall is more like a small pony than a dog, although he’s far more boisterous.
“I’ve never had a dog of this breed in the shelter before and he certainly is attracting a lot of attention.
“Marshall needs an owner with a large house and plenty of experience in training big dogs.
“He’s a friendly boy and likes other dogs, although he can overwhelm them a little.
“But once he’s living with someone who can give him the gentle discipline he needs I’m sure he will make a handsome and rewarding pet.”

The dog, Sir Galahad, a Great Dane, is said to stand 7ft 6in on his hind legs.
