The BSJA launches a new championship series for amateur riders
The BSJA has announced a new show jumping series for its amateur members – the National Amateur Championships.
Each BSJA region will host qualifying classes at 1.05m, 1.15m and 1.25m in height, with 10 horse and rider combinations going forward to the final, which is expected to be held in November. The venue is still to be confirmed.
Entry into these classes will be limited. Horses will be restricted depending on the amount of money they have won in a championship year. Riders will be restricted depending on the current rankings list.
The new series has been designed to expand the number of competitions available to members, as well as providing amateur riders with an attainable championship.
The National Amateur Championships will also allow older graded horses to continue competing at lower levels.
Full details of qualification are available from the BSJA (tel: 02476 698800).
Quality competitions
BSJA members in the Midlands can look forward to joining a new show jumping club, which intends to provide well-funded classes where less-experienced riders can compete against professionals.
The Heart of England Riders Club will be limited to 50 members and will hold 10 Tuesday shows from mid-April to the end of June.
There will be four classes
