A body of a Jack Russell has been found in Northumberland woodland
The RSPCA wants to hear from anyone who might have information about a black and white Jack Russell which was found dead near the village of Shilbuttle in Northumberland.
The dog, believed to have been around 10 years old, had been abandoned in a wood where he was tied to a tree.
RSPCA inspector Ian Smith said: “This is a very distressing case. Whoever left the dog tied to the tree showed no regard for his safety.
“It’s very important that we find out who is responsible for causing this dog to suffer.”
The body was found on 5 April and it’s believed could have been there for around four or five days.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the body. The dog was not emaciated and is not believed to have starved to death.
But an RSPCA spokesperson said it couldhave died from the cold or been strangled as it twisted to get free.
