Three trainers are to face charges of bringing racing into disrepute after appearing in the BBC’s ‘Kenyon Confronts’ documentary programme, ‘They Fix Races, Don’t They?’
Jamie Osborne, Ferdy Murphy and David Wintle are to appear in frontof the Jockey Club’s Disciplinary Committee on a date which has yet to be decided.
The programme was screened in June and claimed to expose alleged cheating. All three trainers said afterwards that their comments and actions were misinterpreted and taken out of context.
Osborne said in the programme he was prepared to cheat with a horse and knew an in-house jockey who would co-operate. Wintle faces charges over the running and riding of his horse Seattle Alley and will be questioned over “violent and improper” behaviour when confronted by reporter Paul Kenyon.
