Capellmann on form at Aachen

  • Germany’s Nadine Capellmann and Gracioso are clear winners in the CDI grand prix at Aachen

Nadine Capellmann and her former double European and World championship team gold medal horse, Gracioso gained a comfortable win in the grand prix (CDI tour) for the second year in succession.

The now 17-year-old showed he had lost none of his flair and still performs his trade-mark exemplary piaffe and passage with immaculate precision and rhythm.

Germany dominated the competition but it was British rider Emile Faurie who prevented a clean sweep from the host nation finishing in eighth place with Dr Bechtolsheimer’s 12-year-old gelding Insterburg.

The combination gained over 68% and finished ahead of last year’s Hickstead winners Wolfram Wittig and Breitling W (10th), Dutch riders Anky van Grunsven and Gestion Krack C (11th) and Gonnelien Rothenberger and Leonardo De Vinci (12th).
