Blind collie seeks new home

  • A collie who spent eight months as a stray is looking for a caring new home

Wood Green Animal Shelter, Godmanchester, Cambs, is appealing for a new home for “Solo”, a nine-year-old part-bred collie who is partially sighted.

Solo spent several months as a stray and was eventually caught by an East Cambridgeshire District Council dog warden after numerous sightings by local residents.

Despite having been on the run for a long time Solo, as staff has named him, was in good condition although he is blind in his left eye due to a cataract and has mild arthritis.

Solo is looking for a home without young children and with people who havelots of time, patience and understanding. Staff say that initially he is quite nervous around people, but once he gets to know the person, he is an affectionate dog who loves fuss and attention.

Ideally Solo would love a home with someone who enjoys relaxing in the garden and taking life easy.

Pam Mackinnon, an animal behaviourist at Wood Green Animal Shelters said: “Solo is looking for a quiet home. He is a lovely dog who will make a great companion.”
