Thieves have stolen tack and memorabilia belonging to a supporter of the Cheshire Forest Hounds
Thieves stole a lifetime’s collection of tack and memorabilia, when they broke into the saddle room of staunch hunting supporter Mark Chambers.
Thieves struck yesterday 4 July while the seventy three year old, was attending the Royal Show, where he was judging the tack and turnout of the Hunt Relay competitors.
The loss, of equipment which included numerous saddles, bridles and rugs, was made even more heartbreaking for Mark, as items stolen included personal tack and mementoes which belonged to his son Marcus, who was killed in a hunting fall some years ago.
Mark, who has whipped in to the Cheshire Forest Hounds for over forty years is understandably devastated by the loss. Poignantly, Mark had just handed over the Marcus Chambers Memorial Trophy to the tack and turnout winners at the Royal Show.
A close family friend, who had gone to Mark’s home near Knutsford in Cheshire, to feed the dogs, discovered the break in. They found a trail of items leading back to the tack room.
It appears that what items the thieves could not carry, were dropped on the way to their vehicle. The whole tack room was stripped of its contents, which included Stubben saddles and bridles.
