Sheikh buys top Irish endurance horse

  • Nakayme Aseer, winner of the recent 50 mile Irish Mournes endurance race has been sold to Sheik Mohammed

Irish endurance rider Suzanne Perry, 17, has sold her gold series Arabian endurancehorse to Sheikh Mohammed, owner of the Godolphin racing team and defence minister of Dubai.

Suzanne sold her nine-year-old grey Nakayme Aseer, winner of the recent 50-mile Irish Mournes endurance race, to the sheikh for an undisclosed sum.

Bred in Northern Ireland by Audrey Woods, the horse is to remain in training with Suzanne until the World Equestrian Games in September. She has been invited to train in Spain at Sheikh Mohammed’s endurance yard near Barcelona.

Suzanne said: “The sheikh has always loved ‘Blue’ and he has offered me the ride on him for the world championships.”

“I can also ride him for the sheikh at endurance competitions, but I have five gold series endurance horses inour yard at the moment and I haven’t decided which horse I am riding in the world championships.”
