Thieves have stolen a six-week-old Shetland foal from its field in Beaconsfield, Bucks
The owner of a six-week-old foal, stolen from its field in Buckinghamshire is appealing for her safe return.
Lily (pictured) a 24-inch, skewbald Shetland was born at the beginning of June. She was kept along with her mother Daisy, and five others in a three and a half-acre field on Gregories Road in Beaconsfield, Bucks.
Owner Mark Saunders said: “I am absolutely devastated. I can’t begin to understand why anyone would take a foal from its mother. She is still dependent on her mother’s milk and I’m not sure she will survive.”
The ponies were last seen at 8pm on Saturday (6 July). When friends went to check on them at 8am Sunday morning they discovered Lily was missing and a distressed Daisy.
The field was securely fenced with sheep netting and barbed wire. It appears that the thieves cutthrough the outer perimeter hedge, which is nearly 5ft wide and lifted Lily over the fence, before carrying her down a 10ft embankment.
