Want to own a racehorse?

  • The BHB is holding two open days where racing enthusiasts can find out about becoming a racehorse owner

Racing enthusiasts can enjoy a fascinating insight into life as a racehorse owner at two Racehorse Ownership Open Days, organised by the British Horseracing Board (BHB),.

The open days will be held in Malton, North Yorks (6 September) and Lambourn, Berks (4 October) and will include visits to a leading trainer’s yard, a local stud farm and the gallops to watch horses exercise, plus a champagne reception, lunch and afternoon tea.

Visitors to Malton will enjoy a tour of Nigel Tinkler’s yard and the Norton Grove Stud, home of Persidium, Defacto and Timeless Times. In Lambourn, delegates will visit either top NH trainer Nicky Henderson’s yard or flat racing specialist John Hills’s stables before going on to Kingwood Stud.

Jenny Pitman will be speaking about racehorse ownership from a trainer’s point of view, while other racing experts will be on hand during the day giving advice on topics, such as “setting-up and running a partnership” and “types of ownership and financial considerations “.

Paul Struthers, ownership marketing executive, said: “The open days are designed to offer potential owners a taste of what it would be like to be an owner, and provide them with information that will help them become involved.

“Our previous open days have been a great success with many delegates becoming owners. Whether you are looking to get involved in a share in one horse, or a string of racehorses, these open days have something for everyone.”

Places cost £59 per person, and are expected to fill up fast so to reserve yours contact the BHB (tel: 020 7343 3321) or visit www.bhb.co.uk
