Five riders and six horses have been selected to ride for Britain at the World Equestrian Games
WEG Dressage Squad
Following competitions at Norten-Hardenburg in Germany and at Hickstead’s Premier League show, the selectors have been presented with a new combination that they feel has the potential to be a World Equestrian Games team member.
A squad of five riders and six horses have been named with the final four horses and riders who will represent Great Britain at WEG announced on Monday 5 August after the results of the CSIO in Vilhelmsborg, Denmark, next weekend.
The squad named are:
- Richard Davison , ridingBallaseyr Stables’ 16.3hh bay mare Ballaseyr Royale.
- Emile Faurie, riding Dr Wilfried Bechtolsheimer’s 16.2hh chestnut gelding Insterburg, and Leonie Porter and Hilary Sawyer’s 16hh bay gelding Rascher Hopes.
- Nicola McGivern , riding Active Equestrian’s 17.1hh bay gelding Active Walero.
- Laura Richardson riding Mrs Brian Richardson’s 16.3hh dark brown stallion, Millenium.
- Peter Storr, riding Pinkie Heintz’s 16.1hh chestnutstallion Gambrinus.

The “late runner” in the squad is Nicola McGivern who made an impressive international debut at Norten-Hardenburg with Active Walero scoring 69.16% in the Grand Prix, finishing in eighth place and qualifying to take part in the Grand Prix Special.
Continuing their good form they came 10th in the GPS with a score of 67.76%.
Active Walero,who Nicola teamed up with only three months ago, is a Hanoverian by Wanderer, and was formerly owned by a Brazilian in training with Norbert van Laak in Germany.
