WEG endurance squad

  • The British endurance team has been announced for WEG

The youngest squad of endurance riders ever selected to ride for their country will line up in Jerez. With the exception of Pam James, 54, and 36-year-old Sarah Kelleway, the team members are in their early 20s. Pam, last on a British team in 1987, will partner Selim De Ducor.

Sarah, better known as a champion Arab trainer and jockey, makes her British team debut with Ibn Aswana.

Also new to the team is Katie Smith, who will ride the horse trained by her father Bill for Sheikh Mohammed, Shahtama.

Sarah Tyson will partner Diamond Dynasty, with whom she successfully completed last year’s young rider World Championship course in Spain.

Back on the team after a break is Jayme Bone (Kruga) and the squad is completed by Beccy Broughton (Murmansk).

The reserves will be Sally Hall, Nicky Freud, Audrey Clarke and Rachael Rolfe.
