A joint meet of Staghounds and Foxhounds is planned on Exmoor on Saturday 14 September
A joint meet of the Devon & Somerset Staghounds, the Quantock Staghounds, the Exmoor Foxhounds and the Dulverton West Foxhounds takes place at Honeymead, Exmoor on Saturday 14 September at 11am.
The meet will be a unique occasion as the Staghounds and Foxhounds have never before met together on Exmoor and it is thought it will be the largest joint meet of hounds ever seen in the West Country.
This combined meeting of hounds is being organised to promote hunting in the final week leading up to the Countryside Alliance Liberty and Livelihood march in London on Sunday 22 September.
It is anticipated that over 300 riders and in excess of 1000 hunt supporters will turnout to show their support and reinforce the united spirit of hunting on Exmoor.
President of the Countryside Alliance Baroness Ann Mallalieu, their Chairman John Jackson, and Chief Executive Richard Burge will all attend the meet making this the highest profile event in the south west before the march.
Following the 3 days of Hunting Consultation Hearings in Westminster on the future of hunting, this meeting of hounds will send a very strong message back to the parliamentarians responsible for deciding the future of hunting in England.
