Britain’s lady riders need your support to guarantee them a place on the shortlist for The Sunday Times’ Sports Woman of the Year
Nominations for The Sunday Times Sports Woman of the Year close on 11 November, and our leading lady riders need your support to reach the short-list.
This year two female riders have outshone all others by performing consistently at the very highest level in eventing.
Pippa Funnell
Pippa Funnell has already won the BBC South Sportswoman of the Year and has enjoyed an outstanding year. She won her first ever Badminton onboard Supreme Rock and was part of the bronze medal winning team at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Jerez.
Jeanette Brakewell
Jeanette Brakewell put in an excellent performance to win individual silver at this year’s WEG. As a British team pathfinder, she has to date ridden four consecutive clear rounds cross-country.
Both riders have notched up countless wins and numerous placings throughout the 2002 season. In the World Event Rider Rankings they are both included in the top 10, with Pippa second behind Wiliam Fox-Pitt, and Jeanette in sixth.
Hosted by the Sunday Times, the short-list for the Sportswoman of the Year 2002, will be announced shortly after the nomination’s closing date.
The awards will then be held at the Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane in London, sometime in December.
