Members of Endurance GB (EGB) voted by a slim majority atthe AGM this week to retain kilometres as the unit in which rides and speeds are measured. This decision saw miles dispensed with altogether, showing the organisation to be more progressively minded than some had expected.
Three separate members’ proposals were submitted to revert to miles, on the basis that the change last year to kilometres, with miles in brackets, had proved confusing for riders when calculating distance.
All FEI rides are measured in kilometres, however, FEI competitions in Britain make up a tiny proportion of rides. All others are run under EGB rules, which are based on, but not identical to, FEI rules.
