Burghley wins equestrian “Oscar”

  • The Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials has once again been awarded the prestigious L’Annee Hippique Award for the best three-day event in the world in 2002.

Voted for by international riders, the accolade is regarded as the Oscars of the eventing world. Burghley has been presented with the coveted award on three previous occasions, more than any other event in the world.

Event Director, Bill Henson, who travelled to Maastricht show on 7 December to collect the award, said : “Receiving an award that has been voted for by the riders is particularly special. The public vote in a different way, with their feet and the steady increase that we are seeing every year at Burghley is testament to their enjoyment of the event as well. Both the riders and the public know that the event will continue to evolve and improve and next year’s will be even better.”

Next year’s Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials takes place in the grounds of Burghley House, Stamford, Lincs, from 4 – 7 September.
