Next year’s SHB (GB) national hunter championship show is to move back to its original home at the Shropshire and West Midlands showground, Shrewsbury.
The show, which has been held at Malvern for the past 14 years, will keep to its traditional date of Sundayand Monday, 31 August-1 September.
Other major changes for 2003 include allowing working hunter competitors to ride two horses in the jumping phase and select which one to take through to the final judging if required. And, in order to accommodate the increasing number of competitors wishing to compete with small hunters, the minimum height for workers has been reduced to 148cm. Sport horses will also be classified from 148cm upwards.
Entire colts up to the age of three will be allowed to compete in hunter young stock classes, at the discretion of individual shows. Affiliated shows will be allowed to take late entries in non-qualifying classes, provided competitors’ registration documents are checked by the show secretary at the time of entry.
