Anky van Grunsven injured

  • Olympic champion Anky van Grunsven, current leader of the Western European League for dressage’s 2003 World Cup, is out of the final in Gothenburg, Sweden (27-30 March) after breaking her leg.

Anky was bucked off her grand prix horse Gestion Joker while schooling and sustained a fractured thigh. She underwent an operation to insert a metal plate in her leg and is expected to be out of action for at least three months.

“Anky was found to be anaemic and is very tired. Normally, she’s a very energetic person, but she’s even finding the physiotherapy tough,” explained her partner and trainer Sjef Janssen.
