Successful junior riders can look forward to two-days of free intensive training with a BSJA accredited show jumping trainer as part of a new initiative introduced by the BSJA and supported by the Pony of the Year Show (POYS).
The BSJA Junior Scholarships will be awarded to winning riders of major classes at POYS, the Festival of Show Jumping, RIHS and HOYS. If the winning rider has already qualified for the scholarship, then the award will pass to the next highest placed rider yet to qualify.
The scholarship has been introduced to ensure Britain’s pony show jumping continues its dominant position throughout Europe and to help develop a broad base of talented junior riders.
Jacky Wood, chief executive of the BSJA, says: “Any initiative that encourages training is a step in the rightdirection. Sponsorship from successful shows such as the Pony of the Year Show is indicative of the strength of pony show jumping in Great Britain and emulates BSJA ponies success both at home and abroad. This BSJA scholarship is set to help continue that line of success”
