Darien Powers retires

  • Andrew Hoy has decided to retire his Olympic partner 16-year-old Darien Powers.

This eye-catching grey gelding, owned by Bob and Rosemary Scarborough, enjoyed an illustrious career, competing in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics and clinching the 1997 British Open title for Andrew.

“It is a hard decision to make, especially when he loves competitions so much,” says Andrew.

The flying grey will be best remembered for his fantastic performances across country at the very highest level.

To commemorate Darien Powers’ fantastic career, Andrew has commissioned a series of limited-edition prints from a portrait of Darien Powers by Lucy Milne. Signed copies will be on sale at Badminton at Lucy’s stand (No 254).
