Police in North Yorkshire are appealing forhelp in tracing over 90 saddles stolen from the equestrian retailer R & R Country based in Hull Road, Hemmingbrough near Selby.
Thieves broke in to the premises at some point between the 28 and 29 April and took with them with a wide range of saddles, including Kieffer, Ideal, WOW, Frank Baines Reflex, Grand Gilbert, Passier, Pessoa, R&R Country, Otto Schumacher, Jeffries Hawk Events, Bates Care Caprillis, Bates Care Isabelles and KB Santis.
Sue Moxon of R&R Country said: “Whoever broke in and took the saddles really knew what they were doing and we believe they had visited the store in the last week.
“The team here still cannot believe this has happened. We have very good security and it is quite upsetting.
“We would welcome any information that may help the police to track down the thieves, and would ask members of the trade to get in touch if anyone not well known throughout the industry makes contact to try and sell these saddles.”
Detective Sergeant Suchomski, who is investigating the incident, thinks that the offenders may have considerable problems in disposing of so much saddlery, some of which is microchipped.
Anyone who is approached by people attempting to sell tack whose origin cannot be readily established is urged to contact the police, who would also like to hear from anyone who is asked to assist in trasporting large quantities of saddlery.
Anyone with any information should contact Selby CID (tel: 01609 783131) or Crimestoppers (tel: 0800 555 111).
