This weekend’s world famous Golden Horseshoe Ride (16-18 May) has a new sponsor — Griffin NuuMed.
One of the oldest rides in the endurance calendar, the Griffin NuuMed Golden Horseshoe Ride is being held at a new venue close to Dunster, in Somerset, and has moved from its traditionally mid-week slot to a weekend.
The 50-, 75- and 100-mile classes will take place on Saturday and Sunday, making it easier for spectators to enjoy the atmosphere, sample the food, and look around the trade stands at the new ‘Horseshoe Village’.
The ride itself will follow much of the same challenging route as before, although the comparatively gentle climb to the moor from Dunster – in contrast to the steep road route up from Exford – will make for a less severe start.
The event will also see the introduction of a 40K Taste of Horseshoe ride to provide intermediate and advanced endurance combinations their first opportunity to ride this unique course.
“We are supplying more endurance riders with our products every day and are delighted to havesecured sponsorship for this event, which is local to our West Country-base,” says Ian Pocock, owner of Griffin NuuMed. “We hope that next year the Golden Horseshoe will secure an FEI ride to attract more overseas riders.”
