Switzerland’s Markus Fuchs has finally brought Ludger Beerbaum’s long-standing reign in the FEI Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings to an end.
Markus collected 485 points during the month of June, which more than compensated for the 294 points he was dropping from the same month last year.
The majority of those points (360) were earned at the Spruce Meadows CSI, where he won the Grand Prix with Granie and was second in the Derby with La Toya III. Marcus also gained 50 points at the French event Jumping de Cannes.
He is now leading the rankings with 3123 points, ahead of Ludger Beerbaum with 2690 points.
Ludger, the former undisputed leader of the FEI Gandini Rankings since the new formula was established in January 2001, dropped a massive 731 points from 2002 and scored 275 points at CHIO Aachen, where he won the Grand Prix on Goldfever 3.
Marcus Ehning (GER) earned 375 points during the month and rose one place in the rankings to third in front of Rodrigo Pessoa. During June he finished second in theAachen Grand Prix with For Pleasure and won the Wiesbaden Grand Prix.
Fantastic performances by Beezie Madden-Patton (USA) saw her gain 515 points and enter the top 10, rising from twelfth to eight place.
Robert Smith retains his ninth position as Britain’s highest ranked rider, while his nearest British rival is Michael Whitaker, who moves up two places to 23rd. His brother John jumps from 46th to 34th.
French rider Michel Robert scored 310 points during the month to take tenth position in the rankings. In addition to the bonus points which he earned with the French team in the Samsung Super League, he finished 3rd in the Aachen Grand Prix and 2nd in the Grand Prix of Wiesbaden.
