The USA is set to stage a new four-star three-day event in Georgia in mid-October of 2005.
Designed by Capt Mark Phillips, who coaches the American eventing team, the horse trials will take place in Rome, North Georgia, on the site of the steeplechase from the Atlanta Olympics.
The 5,000-acre venue beat off competition from three other venues in Texas, Virginia and Maryland to host the event. The new event is the second CCI**** to be held in North America alongside Rolex Kentucky (pictured)
“It will give European riders another chance of a four-star run, and should give everyone another option – and at that level there aren’t many,” says Mark Phillips.
